I have been waiting forever to write this post!! We officially received word that we have been approved and are on the wait list! On February 5th we had our third and final meeting with our home study social worker. This meeting consisted of individual meetings for Jayson and I with the social worker. Overall, there was really nothing new in these meetings. Then we had our transition meeting with the social workers who coordinate the relationships between the birth parent(s) and the adoptive parents. We also had our home visit on that day. Thanks to my mom and my mom-in-love, we had our house sanitized and ready to go! We passed home inspection and paid our program fee.
We turned in our profile/family books about two weeks ago. These books are basically picture books that have pictures of Jayson and I and our family. They also include a letter from both Jayson and I to the birth parent(s) explaining a little about ourselves, our relationship, and why we want to adopt. These books are shown to the birth parent(s) and if they like us, they ask to meet us. They may ask to meet with several prospective adoptive parents so there is a possibility that we may meet with a birth parent(s) and not be chosen.
Our agency has redone their program recently and one of the things they do is allow us to view some non-identifying information about a birth mom that is ready to view profiles. Once we view that information we can choose to have our book shown or not. It is all confidential and so whatever we read, we cannot share. We would appreciate it if you would add discernment to your list of things you are praying for us :).
